October 14-17, the LA Phil and Gustavo Dudamel present an evening of poetic German delights! The program begins with Schoenberg's Transfigured Night, a haunting tale of passion, betrayal, and ultimately, forgiveness. Star soprano Golda Schultz features on Richard Strauss's poignant, but self-reflective swan-song, his Four Last Songs. Finishing the evening, Strauss's early tone poem Death and Transfiguration tells of a sickly man's final passage from life into sublime death.
